We’re now on day 6 of our 7 day morning challenge – the importance of habits and routines.
Now that you’ve identified your new morning schedule, it’s time to make the change and put it into action. To get the best from your new game plan, it’s important that you do it every day. By ensuring that it’s your new routine, you’ll be able to ensure that it happens.
The importance of habits and routines
Before a routine can become a habit, it takes willpower to ensure that things happen. You’ll need to use your own motivation, drive and energy to ensure that you create these new habits. Once they are in position and set, they will be just as automatics as brushing your teeth at least twice a day.
Once you’ve established a good morning routine that works for you, then stick to it for a few weeks. This is the way to ensure that it becomes a habit.
Before you know it, it will feel normal to do it and abnormal to not do it. You won’t have to remind yourself what you need to do next, it will be something that you do automatically. It will take less effort and self-pep-talking to get your activities done… even if your morning routine includes a run or getting up super early to work on your business.
Beware slipping back into old ways
Watch out for the danger of slipping back into your old habits. It’s going to happen. The secret is to catch it early and switch back onto the right track as fast as possible. For example, if you’ve been getting up 30 minutes earlier and going for a walk. One day you may oversleep and not make it. Perhaps you’ve got a cold, or the weather has gone particularly bad. Life can get in the way. However, what is going to be of the utmost importance now is what you decide to do the next day.
The most important thing to do when life gets in between you and your new morning schedule is to get back on track again as fast as possible. As soon as you notice that there has been a disruption. If the weather is off, then try working out at home or go to the gym and use the treadmill. If you oversleep, still try to do some meditation for a few minutes rather than none or do something on your business before you get going onto the rest of your day.
Get back onto your new routine as fast as you can. Return to your new habits as fast as possible and get actively back on track for a few days. You’ll be happy that you did when you start to see the results of your dedication and commitment to helping yourself make progress in your chosen area.
Makeover your morning for the most remarkable results
If you don’t make a change, then you won’t get different results. Only you can make the change, nobody else can do it for you. Without understanding the importance of habits and routines, it will be hard to see what a difference it can make to your productivity, sense of achievement and satisfaction.
