We are now on day 7 of our morning mini challenge to increase productivity – review your morning schedule regularly.
Morning habits and routines can be very powerful. They enable you to move ahead without having to spend so much energy or time on it. However, if you’re not focusing on the right things, then it can be dangerous. It’s important to stay focused on spending your time on the things that will help you to reach your goals.
Review your morning schedule regularly
Once we are into a routine, it’s hard to step back and look at what we’re doing is working for us. Importantly, when circustances change, it’s easy to keep going without having considered the consequences of what’s happened. This is why it’s important to sometimes take time out to check that our routine and our habits are still appropriate to where we want to go.
Every few weeks or months, set aside some time to review your routine. Mark it into your journal or calendar so that you do definitely do it. It won’t take long to do and it’s a valuable use of your time in the long run. Things change in our lives and in our circumstances. Our routine needs to change with it. Even if something has worked well for us over a few weeks or months, it’s not always suitable for us. Which brings us to this…
Is your new morning actually working for you?
As you sit down to take a good look at your morning schedule (apply this to any habit or routine that you’ve been on), ask yourself…
Is it working really well for me? If it is, then great. Carry on. You may need to tweak it so that it fits what you need at that moment in time. .
Also, think about what you love about your morning routine and what you hate about it. Adjust it so that you get as close as possible to still getting the results you want from it, but loving everything about it.
As time moves on, your morning schedule will change and evolve as your life and the people in it change and evolve.
Keep adjusting and tweaking it to improve it and if need be, then refine your goals. Maybe you started out doing exercise first, as time goes by you’ve opted to exercise later in the day. You may have decided to learn a new language or get more into meditation or yoga. Keep using those first few hours to introduce positive change in yourself and others.
Now that we’ve come to the end of our 7-day mini challenge for productivity, it’s important to continue to practice your new habits and routines. You may want to use a desk diary, a bullet journal or even a Passion Planner to keep the momentum.
I use a combination of these. I use a Passion Planner (touted as a paper life coach) but I also use a spreadsheet on a daily basis to ensure that I meet my financial goals throughout the course of the day and the week. I also add these up at the end of the month and the year. This ensures that I stay on track.
