We are on our first day of our 7 day challenge of making over our mornings for productivity.
Start as you mean to go on. When it comes to mornings, this is definitely how it goes for me. If I start well and follow through on my morning routine, I can deliver outstanding productivity for the entire day. But if I start out in a sluggish way, then it doesn’t bode well. Things won’t normally gel together as I’d hoped.
Overall, I love mornings. It’s my favourite part of the day. It’s a new beginning, albeit on a minute scale. With every new day, there’s new opportunity, the chance to start afresh and a chance to do better than the day before.
A good morning routine makes all the difference
However, for me, the success of the entire day is based on those first few hours. How they are used has a huge impact on the rest of the day. It’s what sets the day up – or down.
This is why I’m going to spend the next 7 days focusing on making over your morning routine. I know that the mornings are a vital part of how successful I will be, and the same is highly likely for you. After all, as they say, success is something that comes from consistently performing good habits and taking steps in the right direction.
That darn snooze button!
I’m sure you know what I’m referring to. Let’s start by talking about that dastardly snooze button. We’ve all been there. You have the best intentions the night before. You set the alarm early to ensure that you have the time you need to exercise, meditate or even just grab some good old ‘me time’.
Some mornings you follow through with your intention and get up when the alarm goes. You walk, you meditate or do whatever you had planned for yourself. Then there are those other days. The ones where you just cannot get up. You don’t’ want to get up. It’s cold, you’re tired or you just don’t’ want to leave the comfort of your bed. You hit the snooze button, then again and again. You may even turn the alarm off entirely so that you can peacefully go back to sleep.
Compare how you felt on the days when you used the alarm and followed through with your plan to the days that didn’t work out for you. You must have noticed a difference, as I do.
The days when you got up with the alarm most probably went a whole lot smoother for you. You most likely accomplished what you had planned to do too. The snooze button can ruin entire days. By starting the day off in a positive and productive manner, this is likely to carry through the entire day.
Seven day making over your morning challenge
Over the next seven days, we’re going to go through the process of making over our mornings to the shape that will enable and empower us to be at our best. This is one of the corner stones of success and is something to pay attention to.
Not only will you enjoy your morning so much more, even if the alarm goes off earlier than you’d like, but your entire day will go so much smoother.
Your takeaway: Set your alarm tonight on your phone. Now place your phone over the other side of the room to your bed, so that you have to get up to be able to turn it off. If you’re a person who gets too intimate with your snooze button every morning, this will help you to break the habit.
