With over 1 billion users (over 500 million use it daily), any business owner would miss a trick to not have a social media presence on Instagram.
It’s a networking social media tool that gives you direct and easy access to your target market, enables you to build a brand fast and offers outstanding customer engagement. Interaction has been measured by Forrester Research at a whopping 2.3 percent compared to the measly results of Twitter (0.02%) and Facebook (0.2%).
However, we’re busy and we don’t have a lot of time in our businesses, so what’s the best way to achieve more with less?
I run several Instagram accounts for clients and as somebody who is using it on a daily basis, I’ve pulled together these time-saving tips for Instagram marketing for you. By applying them you should gain more traction with less time, effort and energy. Let’s get started.
Use your PC rather than your mobile device for Instagram posts
I use Canva and Planoly Instagram scheduling tool to build up my Instagram presence. It’s so much faster to load the images directly into Planoly and set up the hashtags. Although it’s easy to upload images from mobile device to Planoly, using the mobile keyboard can slow things down for me. I find it’s so much faster to use a PC keyboard.
Inside Canva, I select the Instagram social media template which is 800px x 800px. If you’re looking to use stories, then go with1080px width by 1350pm height.A
2. Ask permission and repost the images of others
You may have noticed yourself that people trust images shared by users far more than they do those coming from the brands. They can often be more memorable too depending on whether they are taken during a humourous moment or from a unique angle. Sharing user-generated content can really boost your follower count.
Once you’ve asked for permission to repost from the original poster, the quickest and easiest way to share is to do the following:
- Take an image of the image you want to share with your mobile device.
- Cut and crop around the image so that you only have the image itself in the picture.
- Either copy and paste or retype the caption
- Add your own caption
- Publish the content
3. Plan the layout of your gallery
Another benefit from Planoly is that you can plan out your strategy in advance. It saves a lot of time compared to waiting for inspiration on the day itself. It also means that you can keep your overall marketing strategy in mind when you do it too, keeping you consistent and in alignment.
The themes I’ve chosen for my Instagram account are:
- Marketing tips
- Copywriting tips
- Time-saving productivity
Planoly provides you with a grid preview for posts.
4. Do content creation and engagement separately
Doing one thing at a time is key to being productive.
There are two main processes in building an Instagram following:
- Creating content and scheduling it
- Responding to comments and actively building your following
With time being of the essence, try not to get too distracted by notifications when you’re in content creation and scheduling mode.
5. Create content ahead of time
Quite often I’ll create a week or two of content and schedule it in advance. It saves me from keep needing to dive back into Instagram creation mode. It’s a bit like being on a factory production line, you make all the posts at once, then you go in and schedule them. Now you can just go into your account each day for comments, replying etc. Your posting will be and you’ll be more efficient.
6. Schedule time to engage
Managing your time is something that is highly important to the busy business owner. Just as with any other task on your to-do list, engaging on Instagram should be scheduled.
For this to work well for you, you might want to:
- Switch off your Instagram notifications
- Schedule 15 minutes or so every day to respond to comments, like and comment on the posts of your network.
7. Collect hashtags for easy access
According to the results of social media analysis by TrackMaven, having just 9 hashtags works extraordinarily well. However, if you have more, add more.. as you will improve your engagement. It can be time-consuming to have to find nine or more hashtags everytime you post.
Therefore, collecting them beforehand and putting them into a text file can be very handy. You just have to copy and paste and you can create collections for testing purposes. This is partly why I recommend using your PC for Instagram posting as it’s so much easier to copy and paste when in post/schedule mode.
So that is the 7 time-saving Instagram marketing tips for you.
In summary, here they are the tips again:
- Use your PC rather than your mobile device for Instagram posts
- Ask permission and repost the images of others
- Plan the layout of your gallery
- Do content creation and engagement separately
- Create content and schedule ahead of time
- Schedule time to engage
- Collect hashtags for easy access
