I'm Amelia and I help businesses to grow through practical simple marketing that works.

In 2010, I set myself up to help small businesses to connect to new clients. Most of the businesses I’ve helped over the years had a great idea of what to sell and a dream to grow a reasonable size for success. I’ve had glaziers, hotels, virtual assistants and skateboard makers all knock on my’ door’ to help them get found by buyers. Some were already established, and some were starting from nothing. But one thing tied them together.
Every one of them had the same challenge.
How could they market themselves to get found by people who want what they offer?
That’s the million-dollar question. No matter what you offer, you’ve got to find the people you want through good marketing.
No matter how much confidence or faith you have up your sleeves, it helps to have a marketing plan that hits the right spots. We all need to create consistent content, and that’s your goal with these small business marketing approaches.
There are a lot of options, but in my experience these are the most basic, most effective and least complicated to execute for the small business.
A lot of my work comes through this channel. A happy customer will pass on my name to somebody else who needs web content written, a LinkedIn company page or a profile optimising. Enough of these and you have enough for a good income. In my case, I’ve had other copywriters give me work if they don’t have enough time to do it. This may happen in your field too.
A well written LinkedIn profile and a LinkedIn company page can give you no end of credibility. The profile can also provide you with access to new clients. A LinkedIn profile can be used as a ‘vehicle’ to move around LinkedIn as you leave comments or join industry-related groups. Whenever you leave a comment, your photo, name and headline are displayed. This is free marketing and very powerful.
The advertising system of Facebook has been well thought out and can be set up so that you reach people with specific interests or people in a particular location. This works particularly well with local businesses, such as a hotel that I work with in Grenada. They can reach the entire Grenadian population to promote their events and special offers. Once people connect to you, you can work on helping them get to know, like and trust you enough to buy.
Demonstrate that you know what you’re talking about by sharing your knowledge. Whether on social media or inside forums, people can get to know you as a considerate person and know that you’ve got a lot of knowledge and you’re happy to share it.
Years after writing blog posts, you can still enjoy the traffic blogs bring to your site. The best blog posts are over 1000 words, filled with relevant keywords in all the right places to pass humans and Google’s scrutiny and be engaging enough to keep your website visitors reading. Blog posts are another great way to share your knowledge and help potential clients. You can also showcase your offers, such as services or products and explain how to make the best of them.
If you had to pass a tip along to another business owner about marketing their small business, what would you tell them?
If you need help with a LinkedIn profile, company page or blog posts, let me know, and I can write them for you. As I always say, I’m here to help and happy to do so. I write content for small business owners on a tight budget. No frills, just pure practicality that works!
